Miguel in the latter part of 2023, they bring traditional tunes and Ross’ selfcomposed material to life with the use of fiddles, guitar and bouzouki.
With an understanding of folk and traditional music formed from years of experience of working within the Scottish music scene. The Capstan Quartet use this foundation as a platform to extract and showcase the beauty inherent in Scotland’s often deceptively simple traditional melodies, with a keen eye for sourcing tunes from archival resources.

Ross Hull is a fiddle player from Aberdeenshire with experience playing with many different bands and a talent for composition. A highlight of his career to date is being selected as a winner for Feis Ross and Nature Scotlands’ ‘In Tune with Nature’ competition.
Described as “one of the most technically gifted and expressive guitarists in Scotland.” (InnesWhite), Miguel’s music is tied in with a deep understanding and curiosity of the
Traditional Scottish music landscape. Originally from the Portuguese Midlands and now based in Glasgow, Miguel has developed a broad style which swiftly shifts between accompanist and soloist, embodying edges of classical, jazz, and contemporary music. With the eagerness to push and dare, the ebb and flow between styles and techniques Miguel displays make him “A new and genuinely unique voice in contemporary Scottish trad. You really haven’t heard this before.” Martin Green (Lau).
